R7

Out on the Lake"!

Annual R7 Fairwind Race.

This is where the problems all started a region meeting called R7 at  Bass Lake CA.  In this picturesque setting friends meet to have a little r/c boat race.

In the first R7 race (May of 1998) my boat came in second.  Unfortunately we had no pictures of the rumored event.

But the second year I changed some things on my boat to make it a bit better. I replaced the old sails that had holes still in them from where the battery acid ate them, modified the mast crane, improved the stay sheeting and changed the rudder arm.

We won two of the three heats, and we have pictures to prove it.

Wasn't it a beautiful day!

Practicing before the race.

Jerry, Kelly and Rick!

What a nice place to be racing.

In quiet air,!

Now were moving.  Out on Bass Lake in good air.

In good air,!

Jerry's on the left, I'm on the right?"

Notice the translucent sails on my boat, the kit sails on Jerry's boat were a bit heavier.

Now where do we go?"

In the heavier air the weight of the sails had little effect, but in the light air, it was over.
Kelly is my Grandson.  He enjoyed the day fishing.

Looking for a bite!"
