Exotic paint scheme on Gale Enstad's Fairwind

Mike Carlson signed our guest book last summer. He writes" Anyways, I wanted to send you a few pics of my Fairwind. She is called the Shell Bell. I raced her in my local boat club last fall and placed 5th overall. That is good being that I was new to it. I painted her whole hull. The bottom is pearl or metallic black and silver and the top and rudder I painted white. I get lots of compliments on her. It's also all stock.

Mike lives in Minnesota and sails at the Edina Model Yacht Club Http:\\www.emyc.org

This is Milton (Mit) Chorn's Fairwind. From the pictures it looks like Mit took a lot of time in the details for this boat. I really like the paint scheme. Mit lives in Abilene, Texas and sails with his friend David Goebel.

Mit can be reached at mlc@abilene.com

Mit's friend, and my internet friend, David Goebel sent me the pictures of Mit's boat and his Soling 1m. It sure would be fun to stop in and sail with these guys. David Goebel's name may be familure to you, he is very active in AMYA. David has a web page at http://www.intellisys.net/dgoebel

Maarten sent me these pictures and he wrote in his email. I'm a 20 year old Belgian student mechanical engineering, and the owner of a (quite old) Kyosho Fairwind. I bought my Fairwind second hand (6 or 7 years ago) in quite bad condition: there where holes and dents in the hull, the keel was broken and the mainsail was torn. After some weeks work with polyester and sanding paper, the boat was ready to sail, and it got the name Spirit. As you can see on the attached photos, the cabin is quite different from the new ones, but rigging and so are exactly the same. The koala bear on the back was not original, but it looks nice.

The black and white photo's were very nicely done. He wanted me to publish these pictures so that "People can see that even a boat in extremely bad shape can become a nice sailor."

Wayne Marvan sent these pictures in of his Fairwind. Wayne retired on September 10 is proud to be one of the unemployeed. This is it's first test in water. Wayne say's "So far it didn't sink!"

"Sledgehammer"

Here is a contributed picture from Chris Peters in Deerfield Beach Fl. Chris did a nice job painting his boat. He said he was thinking of joining a club. If you have a boat and live in his area give him an E-mail.

"Close up of Sledgehammer"

I noticed the purple on the main boom too! Nice touch.

Steve Walsh's Fairwind

Steve Walsh sent me these pictures from Hilton New York. The fairwind is sailing on Lake Ontario. Nice Picture Steve. He writes that he added a lot of the "Extra" Stuff like the bow & stern railings and the wheel & decals. If I did it over again, I'd left it off."

"Passing Wind"

Another great picture from Steve Walsh's Fairwind "Passing Wind". Ontario is 30 feet from the front of Steve's house. His neighbor and Steve have a triangular course set up right in front of the house and races the boats while sitting in our front yard.
I wonder if he would mind if we all brought our boats over for a week regatta?
